Skill Tree Guide

The Skill 3 update is the first major menu change most players felt after launch week. A new column appeared, VIP skins were teased, and Cash suddenly had more sinks than “buy the next morph vibe.” This guide reads the tree as a spending plan, not as a datamined spreadsheet. Primal Park has not published node IDs or exact coefficients.

If the menu is still locked, finish the opening orb quest in how to play. If you have no Cash, redeem RELEASE and then farm with the Cash guide.

What Skill 3 changed

Before the update, progression felt like evolve-and-hope. After the update, you can see extra ranks that cost Cash even when the evolve prompt is ready. The recorded August session bought into the new column around 75 Cash for an early node and later stared at 350 for another Speed-related rank. Those numbers will drift. The shape will not: movement is the unlock that makes every other node reachable.

VIP skins were shown as a parallel track, not as a replacement for Speed. Buy cosmetics when the farm is automatic. Buying a skin while NPCs outrun you is how Early Alpha accounts stall.

How to read the menu

  • Nodes that mention movement, sprint, or swim are Speed-class. Take them.
  • Nodes that mention bite, special, or damage are combat-class. Take them after you can catch a target.
  • Nodes that mention size or “bigger dinosaur” are identity-class. They feel like evolution but they are still Cash sinks. Confirm you are not confusing them with the XP evolve prompt on how to evolve.
  • Locked nodes with no price usually want a previous rank or a morph you do not have. Change bodies before you rage at the UI.

The upgrade priority page is the short version of this section. Use it when you are in the menu with a hunter nearby and no time to reread philosophy.

A spend order that survives wipes

  1. First Speed-class node (often near the 75 Cash neighborhood).
  2. Enough NPC kills to afford the next Speed rank.
  3. One combat node that matches your current special (land bite versus water snap).
  4. Only then a size or vanity node.
  5. After a wipe, restart at step 1. Do not protect a damage rank you cannot reach the target with.

This order is boring and it is how the recorded session finally stopped dying long enough to explain the menu.

Skill tree versus evolution

People type “skill tree evolve” into search because the menus sit next to each other. They are different pipes:

SystemFuelResult
EvolutionFood-orb XPNew morph / species
Skill treeCashRanks on the current career
CodesPromo stringsCash or a revive refill

If you only push one system, push evolution until you are not a Microraptor, then push Speed until NPCs stop laughing, then push combat. The species guide tells you what the new special is supposed to be after a morph.

Early Alpha caveats

Nodes can move. Prices can jump. A node can exist on one client and vanish after a teleport. Log those surprises as build noise on the Early Alpha page in your head: you did not miss a secret ritual. The tree is unfinished.

Do not download a “skill unlock script.” The scripts hub has no verified listing, and a paste that claims to max Skill 3 is advertising a ban.

When Primal Park adds Skill 4 or a prestige layer, this guide will gain a section. Until then, spend Cash like you expect to die — because on a public server, you should.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Early Alpha sessions.

What did the Skill 3 update add?

A new Cash-funded column and a VIP skin tease. Movement ranks remain the first purchase.

How much does Speed cost?

Community sessions showed early buys near 75 Cash and later ranks near 350. Confirm the live price in your menu.

Is the skill tree the same as evolving?

No. Evolution uses orb XP. The skill tree spends Cash on ranks for the current morph.

Should I buy VIP skins first?

No. Skins do not catch NPCs. Buy Speed until the farm feels easy.
